Author’s Note: This is a writing piece that explains a prediction I have in Where the Red Fern Grows. The boy in the story has to go through many problems but here is the main one so far.
To begin with I think that the boy will get the two good Hounds that he wants because he is working really hard and doing everything he can. The boy is so determine he has what he calls a dog-wanting sickness and to me I have had that before. To get the money he wants he does little chores that will get him money like when he helps this older guy with work he gets paid a couple cents and he has already saved up like three dollars. I also believe that he will get the hounds because if work hard enough at something you want than you will get but you don’t quit if he quits I don’t think he will get the hounds. Another reason I think that the boy will get the dogs is because that he will found a sale for dogs in a magazine that he found and to me it sounds like he killed two birds with one stone because he could get two good hounds for fifty dollars instead of like forty for each one.
The way I see it he is going to do everything little side job he can to get the money he wants. He may do some big jobs too. I would say it is about fall because in the book they say that they should get the dogs ready for hunting season. So he would rake leaves or something for extra money. Then he will get the money for the two hounds and then he will go hunting with them. I believe this because of how badly Billy wants the dogs.
